Denkanikotta was a substation of Adaikalapuram when the Vincentians took charge of Adaikalapuram Mission.   On June 6, 1973, the new Church of Denkanikotta was completed and blessed by the late Bishop of Salem, Rt. Rev. Dr. V.S. Selvanathan, in the presence of the then Superior General Very Rev. Fr. George Kammattil.   In the same year Bishop raised it as an independent Parish under the patronage of St. Little Flower, having Thandavan and Sebastiarpuram as sub-stations.
