Vincentian House Kothamangalam, is situated near the Kothamangalam - Bhuthathankettu road, just 2km away from St. George's Cathedral, Kothamangalam. To come to this house one has to take a deviation to the left ½ km from Ramallor Chapel. It is the Prayer House of the St. Joseph's Province of the Vincentian Congregation, which is called Patmos Prarthanabhavan (Prayer House). This House is situated in 4.66 acres of land and 3 acres of which is rubber plantation. It is situated in the ecclesiastical boundary of Kothamangalam Diocese. The heavenly patron of this House is St. Thomas the Apostle. We bought this property on August 25, 1988. The Vincentian family got formed here in March 19, 1989 in the already existing building, and it was opened and blessed by Mar George Punnakottil, the Bishop of Kothamangalam. Rev. Fr. Mathew Arackathottam was its first Superior. He worked tirelessly for the improvement of the House and the property. Meanwhile he constructed a beautiful Church adjacent to the House. It was blessed on March 25, 1994 by Mar George Punnakottil. Later on the present House was built by Rev. Fr. Augustine Naduvilpurayidathil and was blessed on January 30, 1997 by Very Rev. Fr. Antony Plackal, the then Superior General. After him Rev. Fr. Francis Pullattu and Mathew Paliyakunnel served as Superiors respectively. At present Rev. Fr. Paul Kariamadam serves as the Superior. |
A beautiful Grotto of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal was blessed and inaugurated on November 20, 2004 by Mar Mathew Vaniakizhakkel, the Bishop of Satna. This may be the first Grotto of the Miraculous Medal in the Syro Malabar Church. Many People come here and pray to our Lady Of the Miraculous Medal and receive numerous favours and blessings. Every Wednesday Novena of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is conducted in the Grotto. This House is near to the tourist centres of Bhuthathankettu and Thattekkadu. |
