When the Vincentian Congregation was divided into Provinces, each Province needed separate Minor Seminary. Accordingly, a plot of about four acres was bought on July 26, 1991 at Chethimattom near pala. This House is situated in the ecclesiastical boundary of Pala Diocese. Its heavenly patron is St. Vincent De Paul. |
Historical moments of Vincentian Seminary Chethimattom, Pala in a nutshell
| 15.08.1991 | Foundation stone laid for the seminary by Mar Joseph Pallickaparambil, the bishop of Pala.
Rev Fr.Thomas Kuzhippala and Rev Fr.Luke Nambiaparambil started living here in a temporary shed. They were in charge of the construction. | | 10.06.1992 | Inauguration of the seminary building | | 10.06.1993 | Very Rev Fr.Mathew Thoyalil, VC, Provincial Superior of the St.Joseph's Province of the Vincentian Congregation blessed and inaugurated the partially completed seminary building on June 10, 1992.
Rev. Fr.Abraham Orathel and Rev. Fr.John Nirappel were appointed the vice rector and teacher and Spiritual father and teacher respectively. The seminarians began their stay in this new seminary.

| 17 Seminarians started their classes in Good Shepherd Seminary, Pala. There were 19 students in the first year. They had their classes here itself.

Blessing and Dedication of the newly built Chapel
Blessing and dedication of the newly constructed Chapel at Vincentian Seminary Chethimattom, Pala was done by His Excellency Mar Joseph Pallickaparambil, bishop of Pala at 14 30 on November 30, 1995. So many priests, sisters, seminarians, neighbors and invited guests participated 9 in the sacred functions. The long expected blessing of the chapel has brought more convenience for Holy Mass and prayer for the seminarians and of the local people.
08.09.1996 Rev. Fr.Xavier Kadiyankutty was appointed the spiritual father of this seminary.
03.07.1997 Rev. Fr.Johnus Cherunilam was appointed the vice rector and procurator
| 14.07.1997 Rev. Fr. Xavier Kalappura was appointed the spiritual father.
The post P.D.C. students were shifted to Kattappana for one year.
13.06.1998 Rev. Fr. George Aasariparambil was appointed the rector and Rev. Fr. Jose Plathottam was appointed the vice rector.
18.01.2000 Rev. Fr. Antony Thachethukudy was appointed the Procurator.
16.07.2000 Rev. Fr. James Paliyakunnel was appointed the teacher and spiritual father.
16.03.2002 Rev. Fr. Antony Moonnupeedikayil was appointed the vice rector and procurator.
07.06.2003 Rev. George Panthackal was appointed the acting rector and Rev. Fr.George Aasariparambil started studying Italian language in preparation for his higher studies in Rome.
09.06.2003 The first year seminarians were shifted to Vincentian minor seminary Myladi, Nedumkunnam, our former Novitiate House.
07.08.2003 Rev. Fr. George Asariparambil started his journey to Italy doer the higher studies.
07.08.2004 07.06.2004 Rev. Fr. Chacko Arayathinal was appointed the spiritual father and teacher.
23.03.2005 Rev. Fr. George Panthackal consulted a doctor.
25.03.2005 He was admitted in the Carmel Hospital, Pala and was diagnosed that he was in the advanced state of cancer. He had undergone a surgery in the same hospital on March 31, 2005 and was later shifted to Caritas hospital, Thellakom, Kottayam on 11. April 2005. He was undergoing treatment there till the end of his life. He stayed for a few days in the Provincial house, Kottayam and the rest of the time in the Hospital and Vincentian seminary, Pala.
25.05.2005 Rev. Fr.Abraham Kanjirakonam was appointed the rector. | Pre-novitiate course
07.06.2004 The pre-novitiate course was started for the 6 post plus two seminarians in this seminary.
18.07.2005 Demise of Rev. Fr. George Panthackal. He is the first one who died when he was the member of this seminary. He was in the seminary for the last ten years. He was spiritual father, teacher and rector. May his soul rest in peace! Members
