5th Fatima Light Procession in Berlin: A Witness of Faith and Peace

Thousands of people took part in the 5th Fatima Light Procession in Berlin on 12 October, filling the streets with prayer, candlelight and hope. The event began with a Pontifical Holy Mass celebrated by His Excellency Bishop Emeritus Marian Eleganti OSB at St. Clemens Church. At 7:00 p.m., the procession set off towards the iconic Brandenburg Gate, carrying a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima which was blessed by Pope Leo XIV. The faithful prayed the Holy Rosary in several languages, including Malayalam, giving thanks to Almighty God for the gift of peace and freedom Germany has enjoyed during the 37 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, while expressing their gratitude to the Blessed Virgin Mary for her maternal intercession. Thousands of people also participated in the procession online, joining in prayer from afar.

In front of the Brandenburg Gate, Bishop Marian Eleganti consecrated Germany to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, entrusting the nation and its future to her maternal intercession. Organised by the Vincentian Mission in Berlin with the support of Deutschland dankt Maria, the procession offered a powerful public witness of faith in the heart of the city. The sight of thousands carrying lighted candles was a moving testimony to the enduring power of prayer and the importance of peace. May God continue to bless Germany and the whole world with peace, and may the Blessed Virgin Mary continue to intercede for all nations. All glory and honour be to Almighty God!
