Blessing and Inauguration of New Retreat Hall at Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Kalliakaddaikadu, Mannar, Srilanka
On Monday, 19th August 2024, the newly built retreat hall of Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Kalliakaddaikadu, Uyilankulam, was blessed. The day began with a solemn Holy Mass, with His Excellency, Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Fernando, Bishop of the Diocese of Mannar, as the main celebrant. During the Mass, Bishop Emmanuel delivered an inspiring homily, emphasizing the importance of spiritual renewal and the role of the new retreat hall in fostering deeper faith and community among the faithful. His words resonated deeply with those in attendance, setting a tone of anticipation for the blessings to come.
Following the Mass, the Bishop blessed the new retreat hall, a serene and thoughtfully designed space intended to host retreats and other religious activities. The hall was then inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. John Kandathinkara VC, the Superior General, in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Mathew Kakkattupillil VC, the Provincial Superior and Rev. Fr. Jomon Kaippadakunnel VC, Provincial Councillor for retreats and pastoral work.
The ceremony attracted a large gathering of believers, priests, and religious from the surrounding areas, all united in their joy and gratitude for this new addition to the retreat centre. After the blessing and inauguration, a common meeting was held, where the leaders and participants reflected on the significance of the new hall and the retreat centre's mission to provide a place for spiritual nourishment and growth.
This blessed and grace-filled event marks a new chapter in the life of the retreat centre, promising to enrich the spiritual journeys of countless individuals in the years ahead. Special congratulations to Rev. Frs. Antony Chirackal, Saji Choorapuzha and Xavier Anthony Samy for their great effort put in for the completion of the construction.
