De Care Counselling Centre Inaugurated at Vincentian Social Services, Thiruvananthapuram

Vincentian Social Services, Thiruvananthapuram, in collaboration with Loyola CAPS (Counselling and Psychological Services), inaugurated the De Care Counselling Centre on 21 June 2026, marking a significant step towards promoting mental health and psychosocial well-being in the community.

The inauguration was graciously performed by Mrs. Aswathy Sunil, Vice President of Karakulam Grama Panchayat. The function was presided over by Fr. George Poonattu, Social Work Councillor of the Vincentian Congregation, in the presence of Fr. George Pallikamyalil and other distinguished guests.

As part of the inaugural programme, a well-attended Parenting Session was conducted by Dr. Sanal Mathew, Clinical Psychologist, and Mr. Shal, Psychologist. The session focused on positive parenting, emotional well-being, healthy parent-child relationships, and strategies for building resilient families, offering valuable guidance to parents and caregivers.

The De Care Counselling Centre will function every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing accessible, professional, and confidential counselling services to individuals, families, and the wider community.

The Centre offers a wide range of psychological and psychosocial interventions, including:

• Counselling and therapeutic interventions for children and adolescents
• Parent guidance and psychoeducation
• Family counselling and family therapy
• Couples counselling and relationship enrichment programmes
• Social skills training
• Emotional and behavioural support
• Mental health promotion and preventive interventions

Through this initiative, Vincentian Social Services seeks to create a safe and compassionate space where individuals and families can receive professional support, strengthen emotional resilience, and enhance their overall well-being.
