Funeral Ceremony - Rev. Fr. Joseph Nediyakalayil VC

 

The Vincentian family bid a heartfelt farewell to our dear confrere, Rev. Fr. Joseph Nediyakalayil VC (79), who was called to eternal rest on 05 December 2025 at 11:00 PM after enduring the challenges of Parkinson’s disease with remarkable patience, serenity, and unshakable faith. Born on 28 November 1946 in Valachira, Fr. Joseph offered nearly five decades of dedicated priestly service to the Congregation and the Church, distinguishing himself through his exceptional simplicity, integrity, and deep sense of responsibility. He served in various ministries—education, social work, and especially financial administration—where his prudence, transparency, and disciplined stewardship made him one of the most trusted administrators of the province.

His funeral ceremony, held on 07 December 2025 at Parithrana Retreat Centre, Adichira, reflected the love and respect he earned among confreres and the faithful. His mortal remains were received at 8:00 AM, followed by prayers, public homage, and the Office for the Dead. The Requiem Mass at 2:00 PM, welcomed by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Thundathikunnel VC and presided over by Very Rev. Fr. Paul Puthuva, included a touching homily by Rev. Fr. George Arackal Sr. VC. The final rites, led by His Excellency Mar Jacob Muricken, concluded with the placing of a floral crown and the final commendation before he was laid to rest at 4:30 PM.

Fr. Joseph will be lovingly remembered as a gentle, humble, and faithful priest—steadfast in duty, rich in compassion, and a true brother to all who lived and served with him.
