In Loving Memory of Rev. Fr. John Maliyekal VC (1932–2025)

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master." (Matthew 25:21)

With profound sorrow, we remember the passing of Rev. Fr. John Maliyekal VC, who was called to eternal rest on June 21, 2025, at 4:05 PM. A dedicated priest of our Congregation, Fr. John served the Church and the Congregation with exemplary faithfulness and missionary zeal for over six decades.

Born on April 2, 1932, in Muthalakodam, he was ordained a priest on March 11, 1960. He spent many years in the formation ministry, serving as Rector of the Vincentian Minor Seminary, Trikkakkara, and as the Novice Master.  His ministry took him across India and abroad, including many years of service in the Diocese of Sioux Falls, USA, and various leadership roles within the Congregation. He lived a life of deep prayer, humility, and pastoral commitment until his final days at Vincentian House, Adichira.

Funeral Ceremony Highlights

The funeral service took place on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Parithrana Retreat Centre, Adichira. The day began with the arrival of the mortal remains at 8:00 AM, followed by public homage in the Ashram Church.

We were honored by the gracious presence of His Grace Mar Thomas Tharayil, Archbishop of Changanassery, who offered prayers and the Office for the Dead in the morning as a mark of tribute to the departed soul.

The Funeral service was solemnly presided over by His Excellency Mar George Madathikandathil, Bishop of Kothamangalam, at 2:00 PM, in the presence of many priests, religious, seminarians, and the faithful. A eulogy was delivered by Rev. Fr. George Pallickamyalil, and the homily by Rev. Fr. George Arackal Sr. The final prayers, and ceremonial rites were carried out by Bishop Mar George Madathikandathil. The mortal body was laid to rest at 4:30 PM, following a solemn procession and final prayers.
