Parish Feast – St. Mary’s, George, South Africa

The faithful of St. Mary, Queen of the Apostles Church, George, came together in joyous celebration of their parish feast, marked by spiritual preparation, vibrant liturgy, and deep community fellowship. The celebrations began with a nine-day Novena, Benediction, Rosary and Holy Eucharist in the evenings, which brought together parishioners in prayer, reflection, and devotion as they prepared their hearts for the upcoming feast. Each day of the novena featured thematic reflections, special intentions, and active participation from various parish groups and families. The spiritual preparation of this year with nine days novena was a new experience for the community and they cherished every moment of it.

Following the novena, the Triduum celebration commenced with great solemnity. The Triduum was inaugurated by the Dean of the Southern Deanery, Rev. Fr. Johan Strydom, who delivered an inspiring message on discipleship and mission, reflecting the spirit of Mary, Queen of the Apostles. May 31, was the Feast Day Proper. Rev. Fr. Leon Mostert the Oratorian Priest  and Rev. Fr. Antony the Pallotine Priest concelebrated the Holy Eucharist. Their presence added to the festive spirit and deepened the sense of unity within the wider Church community. Festivities concluded with a fellowship gathering, where parishioners shared in joyful celebration, food, and thanksgiving. The culmination of the Triduum—and the parish feast itself—was fittingly celebrated on the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord.
