Vincentian Ashram Dharan- Nepal : First Divine Mercy Retreat Concludes with Solemn Procession and Holy Mass
The inaugural Divine Mercy Retreat was held from April 10 to 12, drawing the faithful into three days of profound prayer, adoration, and spiritual reflection. The retreat began on Thursday at 10:00 AM and concluded on Saturday with a solemn procession and Mass.
The first day opened with the Adoration and Rosary, led by Fr. Nirmal VC. Br. Dhano Soren then delivered the opening session on the mercy of God, setting a contemplative tone for the retreat. Following lunch, Fr. Nirmal Kummamkottil VC presented an insightful talk on the history and theological importance of Divine Mercy, tracing its roots from Scripture to the revelations of St. Faustina. The evening featured anointing adoration alongside the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The day concluded with Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Nirmal James VC.
On the second day, Br. Dhano Soren began the morning session with a meditation on the Love of God. The second session was led by Fr. Babu SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College, Siliguri. His talk focused on the suffering of Christ and how Divine Mercy confronts human suffering with redemptive love. In the afternoon, following a period of adoration, Fr. Babu celebrated Holy Mass, drawing a large gathering of devoted participants.
The final day, Saturday, commenced with the Rosary at 8:30 AM. A subsequent talk explored the importance of Divine Mercy in daily life, drawing powerful lessons from the life of St. Faustina, the Apostle of Divine Mercy. During adoration, the faithful took part in a solemn procession, carrying the image of Divine Mercy with reverence and devotion. The retreat culminated in a closing Mass celebrated by Fr. Babu. In his homily, he emphasized the essential role of faith, illustrating how St. Thomas recognized the risen Jesus through His wounds — a testament that faith often matures through humble encounter and honest seeking.
The first Divine Mercy Retreat concluded as a deeply enriching spiritual event, leaving participants with a renewed understanding of God's boundless mercy and a stronger commitment to living out that mercy in their daily lives.
