Vincentian House, Dharan : A Day of Faith and Fellowship: St. John Bosco Catholic Church Celebrates Patronal Feast
The St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Dharan was a hub of spiritual solemnity and communal joy as it celebrated the feast day of its patron saint, St. John Bosco. The celebrations seamlessly blended sacred tradition with vibrant community spirit, reflecting the saint’s own dedication to faith, education, and joyful fellowship.
Eucharistic Adoration and Holy Mass
The day commenced with profound devotion at 8:30 AM with Eucharistic Adoration and the praying of the Rosary. This was followed by a solemn concelebrated Holy Mass. Fr. Nirmal Kummamkottil VC, the Parish Priest, served as the main celebrant, with Fr. Cyril Stephen VC as the co-celebrant.
The homily, delivered by Fr. Eugine Kujur, the Rector of Don Bosco Bharoul, provided a poignant reflection on the saint's life. He emphasized the indispensable roles played by Mother Mary and Don Bosco’s own mother, Margherita, in nurturing his vocation and path to sainthood.
Cultural Celebration and Felicitations
Following the Mass, the atmosphere transformed into one of celebration with a dynamic cultural program. Masterfully emceed by Shweta Tamang and Alisha Tmg, the event featured enthusiastic performances by the parish youth, the Amma Samuha (Mothers' Group), and the Buwa Samuha (Fathers' Group). The Amma Samuha also organized engaging games for the adults, adding to the festive mood.
A key segment of the program was a felicitation ceremony honoring dedicated parishioners. Catechism children were applauded for their academic performance, along with teachers Subarna Rai and Nabina Hasda. Winners of the parish's best crib competition were awarded. Special recognition was extended to Nabin Hasda, Rachel Murmu, and Robert Urau for their exemplary selfless service to the church community. The sacristans, Isha and Roselyn, received particular appreciation for their unwavering dedication to liturgical support.
A Tribute and Shared Fellowship
In a touching tribute, the parish remembered the legacy of all Salesian fathers who have served the Dharan community over the years. Fr. Eugine was invited to accept a felicitation on their behalf and ceremoniously cut the festive cake. The feast day concluded with a shared community meal, symbolizing the unity and fellowship at the heart of the parish. Attendees departed with a renewed sense of blessing, carrying forward the spirit of St. John Bosco’s enduring mission.
