VINCENTIAN MISSION – SOUTH AFRICA : Vincentian Family Collaboration with the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul (SCV)

A significant step in the growth of the mission has been the partnership established with the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. Their charism and apostolic dedication have enriched the Vincentian presence and expanded the scope of service.
On 19 September 2025, a new convent of the Sisters of Charity was blessed and inaugurated at St. Mary’s, George, South Africa, by the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Oudtshoorn, Bishop Noel Rucastle. The evening liturgy was graceful. It commenced with the Holy Mass by the Bishop and concelebrated by the Dean of the Southern Deanery accompanied by the priests from the neighbourhood. The religious sisters of the other Congregations in the Diocese were also present. After the Holy Mass and felicitation, the blessed sacrament was carried in procession from the Church to the convent to be placed in the new convnet chapel. All the faithful joined for the cake cutting.
The Vincentian Mission in South Africa is in its developing phase let us join together in prayers for this budding mission.
The presence of the superiors of the SCV from India highlighted the importance of this milestone and expressed the unity of the global Vincentian Family. The convent immediately began functioning as the residence of the Sisters from the day of its blessing.
