Vincentian Retreat Centre Blessed: A New Spiritual Haven in Melbourne

A landmark moment unfolded for the Vincentian community in Australia as the newly established Vincentian Retreat Centre in Melbourne was solemnly blessed by His Grace Most Rev. Peter Andrew Comensoli, Archbishop of Melbourne, on 17th May 2025.

The blessing ceremony, held at the newly acquired facility marked the official inauguration of the retreat centre, situated near Dandenong — a location strategically close to the existing Vincentian mission in the region.

The initiative was spearheaded by Fr. Rojan George VC, Director of the Vincentian Retreat Centre Melbourne, whose vision, faith, and unwavering commitment turned what seemed like an impossibility into a vibrant reality. The property, formerly a clubhouse, was transformed into a house of prayer through the generous support of the faithful in Melbourne.

A passage from 2 Chronicles 7:15, “Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place,” fittingly set the spiritual tone for the occasion, reminding all present of the divine purpose this centre is to serve. The newly blessed centre is expected to serve as a vibrant hub for spiritual renewal, retreats, and pastoral activities, continuing the Vincentian mission of spreading the love of Christ and fostering deep spiritual growth among the faithful in Australia.
