Vincentian Social Services Commemorates Internet Safe Day

On February 8, in honor of Internet Safe Day, Vincentian Social Services and Loyola College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Sreekaryam, joined hands to create awareness on responsible screen use through the Smart Screen Project at Maanaveeyam Veethi.

With a mission to educate children, parents, and teachers on the impact of screen addiction, this initiative has already reached over 1,000 individuals, offering screen addiction assessments, recovery support, and counseling. The highlight of the evening was a powerful street play by MSW students of Loyola College, shedding light on the devastating effects of screen dependency. A 20-minute mobile-free challenge encouraged people to put down their phones and engage in creative tasks, games, and cultural expressions. The experience was eye-opening—many continued the challenge even after the event!

The event was inaugurated by renowned actor and Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman, Mr. Prem Kumar, with Loyola College Principal, Rev. Fr. Sabu Thomas S.J., presiding. The event truly sparked conversations on the importance of mindful screen use and the need to reclaim our time and real-world connections.
